Part-Time Peer Mentor, Financial Aid-State

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

This position will mentor and advise students about higher education, including the financial aid, completing FAFSA application, and Apply Texas application. Mentor will also provide financial aid options and assist students with finding and utilizing appropriate resources. Required to provide high level information. May interact one-on-one with students. May interact with a high volume of customers. Will work with and assist diverse groups.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Filing
2. Copying
3. Faxing
4. Provide general information related to the department
5. Record maintenance, preparation and review of forms, data entry
6. Provide handouts and/or forms to customers
7. Maintain inventory
8. Set up Financial Aid equipment (such as go-center computers)
9. Event preparation and support
10. Collect and record data
11. Maintain knowledge of multiple programs
12. Provide limited technology support to end users
13. Interpret regulations and policies
14. Maintain and/or process records
