Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Part-Time POWER Grant Coordinator (Temporary, Grant-Funded) position. The Partnership on Work Enrichment and Readiness (POWER) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating POWER cohort activities during the fall and spring semesters, and for recruiting students throughout the academic year. POWER is a cohort-based semester long program that connects students in mental health and substance use disorder recovery to campus life, helping develop educational/career potential. The Coordinator’s role includes supporting POWER students’ success in their POWER cohort and following their academic progress for 4-6 months after they have completed POWER. The Coordinator works with each student to develop a realistic educational plan based on their needs and educational ability. The Coordinator handles internal and external outreach for the POWER Program, connecting with agencies, schools and other organizations to build awareness about the POWER Program and secure prospective participants. The Coordinator is supported by the POWER team and Director in order to ensure the smooth running of the POWER program. The POWER coordinator will be expected to report to the Pottstown campus once weekly, but the primary office is at the Blue Bell campus. The position is fully grant funded.

These positions are contingent upon grant funding. The end date for the grant is June 30, 2026, with potential renewal for additional years.

*These positions require the candidates to obtain the PA Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprinting clearances, prior to their start date*

**These positions are part-time, 25 hours per week and College wide. The primary location is the Blue Bell campus but will be expected to report to the Pottstown campus once weekly. Must be available to work day, and some evening and weekend hours for special events.

**These positions have been approved for a flexible work option arrangement. Flexible work options can be ended at any time by the College, Cabinet, and/or supervisors based on employee performance and/or as institutional needs change.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, human services, social work, psychology, public health or related fields plus at least 2-3 years’ experience is required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring and/or coaching students, clients, etc.
  • Practices compassion and empathy for those in substance use recovery and/or facing mental illness.
  • Excellent communication and planning skills to encourage students to meet their goals.
  • Ability to use online software to track students and enter notes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

2. Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

  • An understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college staff and students in general and the POWER Program population in particular.
  • Background in human services, counseling, and/or student advising is helpful.
