Post/s of Part-Time Research Support Officer I or II or III
University Semiconductors Competence Centre
Applications are invited for a Research Support Officer (RSO) to carry out duties at the University Semiconductors Competence Centre (USCC), an Academic Centre of the University of Malta. The RSO may also be required to work on projects undertaken by the Department of Microelectronics & Nanoelectronics within the Faculty of ICT.
Applicants must have a first degree or a Master’s degree or a PhD in the area of Engineering, ICT or related disciplines.

Applicants must be able to organise and prioritise tasks within stipulated timelines to meet interim deadlines. Applicants must also possess good written communication and academic writing skills in the English language.
The selected candidate must be living in Malta during the period of employment.
The post is for a period of up to 36 months and will entail a total of 660 hours of work. The successful candidate will report to the Director of the USCC.
The initial remuneration per hour, inclusive of any cost-of-living adjustment shall be €13.08 (RSO I) or €14.58 (RSO II) or €17.64 (RSO III).

Further Information
The objective of the University Semiconductors Competence Centre is for the University of Malta to contribute towards the further development of the semiconductor ecosystem in Malta. The USCC is a partner in the Malta Competence Centre (MCC) consortium, coordinated by Malta Enterprise. MCC forms part of the European Network of Competence Centres in Semiconductors, one of the Chips for Europe initiatives. Specifically, the USCC will contribute towards skills development in the area of chip/microsensor/IOT design, heterogeneous integration, and supporting SMEs and start-ups in the semiconductor area. The RSO may also be required to work on projects undertaken by the MNE Department.
The successful candidate will report to the USCC Director, and will be expected to support the delivery of USCC online upskilling courses.
The appointee will be expected to work at such places and during such hours as may be determined by the University authorities.
The selection procedure will involve:
- scrutiny of qualifications and experience claimed and supported by testimonials and/or certificates (copies to be included with the application);
- shortlisting; and
- an interview and / or extended interview.
The post is for a period of 36 months, which will be subject to a probationary period, and to the provisions of the Statutes, Regulations and Bye-Laws of the University of Malta which are now or which may hereafter be in force.
