TITLE: Rink Attendant
REPORTS TO: Custodial Supervisor (Athletic Complex)
SCHEDULE: Seasonal, Generally mid-September to mid-March, 20
- 30 hours/week, Monday – Saturday 4:30pm- 10:30pm; Sunday 6:00am -
1:00pm, as needed. Schedule may vary according to departmental, and
Academy needs.
Wage: $21.00 per hour, plus shift differential

Position Purpose
Assists in preparing and maintaining indoor ice rinks and
associated areas of the athletic complex to support various
athletic programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist Rink Manager in preparing rinks for all rink-related
programs.
- Operate and perform routine preventative maintenance on ice
making equipment including ice resurfacers, ice edger, and other
equipment as necessary.
Perform routine maintenance and repair work during and at the
end of the skating season.
Clean Plexiglas shields and rink boards after each skating
season.
Secure and lockup rinks after night and/or weekend rentals and
events.
Clean rink areas, including rest rooms, team rooms, hallways,
entrances, stands, players’ boxes, penalty boxes, locker rooms, and
other athletic facility areas as needed.
Sweep, wash and mop floors, empty trash, replenish toilet paper
and perform other similar duties.
Shovel snow at rink entrances/exits, emergency exits and other
areas as directed.
Contact and assist emergency personnel in the event of a
skating injury.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
- Experience with rink operations preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting
is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and
will require the ability to remain standing for extended periods of
time, go up and down flights of steps, lift and push heavy objects
as well as stoop, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs without
assistance.
- Ability to work in cold temperatures in the rink and work on
wet, slippery ice.
Additional Requirements
- Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed
every 5 years).
- Clean Driving record (reviewed annually).
- Must consistently wear assigned uniform and equipment and
adhere to the appearance guidelines.
- May be required to handle hazardous materials in the work
area.
