Job Description:

Function of Position:

The Marketing, Web and Social Media student employee will assist with a variety of digital marketing, website, social media, and communications projects for Monroe Community College. This position provides a great hands-on opportunity to learn how a college website and digital marketing operation works while gaining practical experience with web content, digital communications, social media, and marketing in a higher education environment.

Assist with updating and maintaining content on the MCC website.
Review webpages for accuracy, outdated information, broken links, and other content issues.

Assist with website quality assurance and testing, including reviewing pages on desktop and mobile devices.

Help format and enter content into the College's content management system.

Assist with organizing website content, images, documents, and other digital assets.

Assist with social media projects, including researching content and preparing materials.

Help gather information, images, and other materials for marketing and web projects.

Assist with reviewing website content for accessibility and adherence to College web standards.

Gain exposure to the tools, processes, and strategies used to manage a large college website and digital marketing operation.

Support Marketing, Web and Social Media staff with projects as needed.

This position may be funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or departmental budgetary funds, depending on eligibility and departmental need. Federal Work Study applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to employment consideration. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying. Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

Review webpages and identify outdated or incorrect information.
Check webpages for broken or incorrect links.
Assist with website content updates and formatting.
Review webpages for consistency in headings, links, images, and other content elements.
Assist with website testing and quality assurance.
Organize and maintain digital files and website assets.
Research topics and gather information for marketing and social media projects.
Assist with preparing content and materials for social media.
Help organize photographs, graphics, documents, and other digital marketing assets.
Participate in website and digital marketing projects that provide practical experience with industry tools and workflows.
Perform other duties related to web, marketing, communications, and digital media projects as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts.
Communicate with your supervisor in advance regarding absences, schedule changes, or time-off requests.
Maintain good standing with MCC's academic and student conduct (judicial) policies.
Be currently enrolled and actively attending classes at MCC.
Federal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire).

Preferred Qualifications:

Interest in marketing, communications, web development, digital media, social media, graphic design, journalism, or a related field.
Strong attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable using computers and learning new software.
Familiarity with websites, social media platforms, or digital content is helpful but not required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
Work schedule will be approximately 10 hours per week, with most hours scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Pay Rate: $16.00/hour

Hours per Week: Up to 10 hours/week - hours scheduled must be fall within Monday through Friday between 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Semester Hiring: Fall 2026 and Spring 2027
