Part-Time Student Lab Intern, Biology

Campus Location: Danvers

SALARY: $17.30 per hour, non-benefited; grant-funded position.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Under the mentorship of full-time faculty and staff in the Natural Science Department, the lab assistant will work with equipment and materials to gather data and report findings in the science labs at the Danvers campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Learn and follow lab safety procedures, including safety-related dress codes and all other safety-related expectations.
2. Read and interpret written laboratory procedures.
3. Use laboratory equipment and supplies, as well as computer-based analysis tools, to complete lab procedures.
4. Collect and organize data based on laboratory results.
5. Provide suggestions for improving lab procedure communication and implementation.
6. Clean, organize, and maintain equipment, glassware, and laboratory spaces as needed.
7. Attend lab meetings as required.
8. Other tasks and duties related to development and optimization of laboratory methods and procedures.

Job Requirements:

• Current student at North Shore Community College
• Experience in a science teaching laboratory
• Ability to read and interpret scientific procedures and instructions.
• Ability to organize data using Microsoft Office
• Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with iWorx lab procedures, including using LabScribe software data collection and analysis.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
