Undergraduate Research Assistant
Job Summary
The successful candidate will assist the PI by supporting efficient laboratory operations, including data collection and analysis, and assisting with general lab duties such as purchasing and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities
- Mouse handling, performing minor animal surgery, maintaining the mouse colony.
- DNA, RNA, and protein isolation
- Tissue extraction, processing and preservation
- Immunohistochemistry
- Immunoassays
- In vitro culture systems, preparing cells for RCAS injections
- Prepare and maintain reagents, stocks, and cultures necessary to perform assigned tasks
- Assist in the design and data collection for drug studies, to include the preparation and administration of drugs/reagents and record keeping per guided protocols
- Maintain daily operations of the laboratory including, but not limited to, ordering and stocking of lab supplies, maintenance of equipment, organization, and record keeping.
- Prepare, organize and communicate scientific results in departmental, group and/or individual meetings, work with team to prepare results for scientific publications, grant proposals and presentations.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy for all work
- Work well as team-member
- Perform other duties as assigned

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.
Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required
Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking. Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a Social or Behavioral Science, Liberal Arts, or a field related to the area of research, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education); one year of experience in research and analytical techniques; demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.
