The CSN Extension Campus Senator is responsible for promoting student life and student initiatives at the extension sites. This may include office responsibilities, administering programs, surveys, and gauging the student population.
Extension Site Senators are also responsible for attending all required workshops, and student development trainings.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Shall serve on at least 1 ASCSN Standing Committee and 2 ASCSN Ad-hoc Committees.
- Shall have authority to approve By-Law legislation as proposed by the ASCSN By-law and Constitution Committee with an approval by two-thirds (2/3) simple majority vote of the entire ASCSN Senate in a regularly scheduled ASCSN Senate meeting.
- Shall have authority to pass financial funding items with a simple majority vote in a scheduled ASCSN Senate meeting.
- Shall have authority to override a presidential veto with approval by two-thirds (2/3) supermajority vote of the ASCSN Senate in a scheduled ASCSN Senate meeting.
- Shall serve at least 12 hours (over and above committee meetings) each week by working on senatorial programs/assignments and assisting students on the campus they represent, while classes are in session.
- Senate members may choose to work up to one-third (1/3) of their weekly hours helping during events held by ASCSN.
- Senators shall be required to deliver a brief presentation during 1 class each month to discuss the department of ASCSN Student Government.
- Senators shall dedicate 2 working hours each week to promote ASCSN Student Government and ASCSN Events.
- Shall spend the remainder of their hours working on committee assignments.
- Shall not represent a Club/Organization and/or Department/Division for attendance or accountability purposes at any ASCSN Senate, ASCSN Committee, or other meetings held by ASCSN.
- Shall see all items of nonfeasance and make the recommendation to dismiss the charges or send the accusation of nonfeasance to the Grievance Committee and Judicial Board.
- Shall be removed from Senate for 3 unexcused absences from ASCSN Senate and/or Committee meetings in an academic semester.
- Shall submit a statement of interests at the beginning of their term detailing possible conflicts of interest.
- Shall submit at the beginning of each semester proof of enrollment of a minimum of six credits on the campus they represent.
All senate members shall uphold standards appropriate for a servant leader at all times while on CSN premises and/or while representing ASCSN Student Government at off campus events.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- You must be enrolled in at least 6 credits to qualify as a student worker.
- You must be registered for the applicable amount of coursework at the College of Southern Nevada by Monday, August 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM for the Fall 2026 semester.
- You must be registered for the applicable amount of coursework by Monday, December 21, 2026, for the Spring 2027 semester.
- Being enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each semester at the applicable campus.
- Maintaining a semester GPA of 2.25 or higher each semester.
- Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher overall.
REQUIRED TRAINING SCHEDULE (IN-PERSON):
- Monday, July 13 - Thursday, July 16 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM each day.
- Monday, August 10 - Thursday, August 14 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM each day.
- Spring Training: Monday, January 11 - Thursday, January 14, 2027 | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM each day
