Position Summary

The Bookstore is recruiting for one part-time student worker. This position is responsible for contributing to providing bookstore services needed to foster student success. Assist the Customer Service Representative with customer inquiries, processing customer transactions, organizing product placement, and maintaining a clean environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Accurately operate point-of-sale registers complying with policy and procedures;
2. Understand and adhere to the various payment methods regarding bookstore transactions;
3. Understand and adhere to the textbook buy-back & refund policy;
4. Daily contact with customers and assisting with customers in person and by phone;
5. Interact with customers to ensure a great shopping experience;
6. Assist with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the general merchandise departments of the store which includes campus apparel (clothing), insignia (imprinted items), desk supplies, and sundries (novelty, gift items, etc.);
7. Keep shelves clean, stocked & organized with general merchandise;
8. Assist with the decorating of the window(s) and setting up special displays & promotions that are visually appealing;
9. Other duties assigned by bookstore staff.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours in the fall and spring, and 3 credit hours in the summer. To continue employment during the summer session, you must be enrolled in the interim or summer 1 session.
• Must maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA), including developmental courses.
• Team player who is dependable, punctual, organized, and detail oriented

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Must be able to bend, turn, and stand for long periods of time. The employee must be able to safely push or pull cartons, packages, counters, displays, etc… up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
