Academic ConnectApplications are invited for appointment as Part-time Teaching Assistant in the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) (Ref.:532133) to commence on September 1, 2025 for four months, with possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
The JMSC is seeking a dedicated and trained fact-checking journalist to support faculty in supervising Annie Lab (https://annielab.org), our fact-checking media outlet, and assist in teaching graduate-level courses on fact-checking.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising the operations of Annie Lab
- Support the teaching of relevant fact-checking courses at the graduate level.
- Contribute to a collaborative and innovative learning environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above
- Strong command of written and spoken English
- Solid understanding of the news and social media landscape
- Proficiency in digital verification tools and techniques
- Knowledge of other Asian languages and prior teaching experience are advantageous
Working Hours and Compensation
The position requires 28 hours per week, with some flexibility in scheduling but relevant classes are held on Monday afternoons (or possibly evenings) and all day Wednesday in the 2025-26 academic year (first semester).
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, calculated on an hourly basis.
