Part-time Tutor for Technology, New Media and Society

This role will be based University campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Do you have experience of interdisciplinary teaching? Are you able to support a diverse group of learners including adult learners who are undertaking an interdisciplinary, professionally-related degree? Do you have experience researching and teaching in the area of technology, new media and society?

The BA Professional Studies programme is a degree designed specifically for mature students to provide interdisciplinary and professionally-related learning. We are looking for a tutor for the delivery of one final year module. You will take responsibility for and cover preparation, student support and marking as well as the teaching delivery of the module. 

Technology, New Media and Society

This is a final year core module on the Professional Studies degree delivered in semester 1, involving 4 hours of teaching a week, timetabled for Tuesdays 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-15:00. (This will be primarily face to face delivery with a mix of synchronous and asynchronous support, including 1:1 tutorials as appropriate – elements of the delivery for this support could be more flexible to fit with student and staff need and availability). It consists of a two hour workshop about the theories and research around new media, communication and the crafting of digital resources, and a 2 hour practical workshop to help students learn how to design and build a digital resource.

Teaching for a 20 credit module is paid 6.68% fte. This equates to payment for 110 hours. This is an ongoing appointment.
