Part-time Tutor in Travel and Journalistic Writing
This role will be based University campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
Do you have experience of creative writing teaching? Are you able to support learners developing their travel and journalistic writing skills?
The Creative Writing Programme offers a series of connected discovery modules, from level one to three. Undergaduate students from across the university choose to take these modules, to broaden their overall degree experience. Students, therefore, come from a wide range of disciplines and, while they will have a particular interest in the discovery module topic, they also bring a range of experiences to the modules. Some will have a clear focus on writing, and will have a regular writing routine in place and others will be at the beginning of this journey.
You will take responsibility for the delivery of two 20-credit modules in Travel and Journalistic Writing.
Travel and Journalistic Writing provides second-year students from across the university with the opportunity to explore these writing forms through: practical writing workshops, practical assignments, discussion of work in progress, structured reflection and the analysis of contemporary writing within this field. The module is taught in both semester one and two, in weekly, two-hour classes. For further details please see: https://catalogue.leeds.ac.uk/Module/UG/LLLC/2262/202526 ;
You should have outstanding skills in learning and teaching, ideally at Higher Education (HE) level and a practical understanding of the needs of diverse learners.
Tutors are appointed on a pro-rata basis of 6.68% of a full-time contract per 20 credit module, subject to the module recruiting sufficient students to be viable. This equates to payment for 110 hours. This is an ongoing appointment.
Face to face class time is 2 hours per week. Teaching will take place on Wednesdays from late September through to May each academic year.
