Position Summary
Provides case-managed academic advising to help students develop clear educational pathways, achieve academic goals, and successfully complete or transfer from their programs. Monitors student progress, connects students with resources, and provides proactive support to promote retention and success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages an assigned advising caseload, guiding students through program selection, academic planning, registration, graduation, and transfer requirements.
- Advises students on career and educational goals, course placement, program changes, withdrawals, and other academic decisions.
- Monitors academic progress, degree completion, advising benchmarks, and early alerts; coordinates interventions and resources for at-risk students.
- Interprets placement and testing results and communicates College policies, procedures, systems, and student resources.
- Provides in-person and virtual advising and supports registration, recruitment, admissions, and other student success initiatives.
- Collaborates with faculty, Financial Aid, and other departments to resolve student needs and support successful academic progression.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Three (3) year advising, counseling, or providing case management student success support at a higher education institution
- Such as career services, financial aid, or other forms of admission/college readiness support
- Case management experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience advising student pathways and caseloads
- Previous experience working with special populations
- Bilingual – English/Spanish
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong advising, case management, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage a substantial caseload and maintain accuracy. Proficiency with advising, student information, and communication technologies. Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, work with individuals from varying backgrounds, and maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
