Advertised Job Summary
The Patient Support Specialist serves as the first point of contact for patients, staff, and guests in the Brain Health Center. This role is responsible for providing support and assistance while demonstrating a calm, supportive environment for individuals navigating complex neurological care. The Patient Support Specialist greets and directs patients and guests, answers inquiries, assists with wayfinding and check-in or front-desk operations, and coordinates with clinical and support staff as needed. A strong emphasis is placed on professionalism, confidentiality, and clear communication to ensure a positive experience for patients and caregivers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in guest services, customer service, healthcare reception, or a patient-facing role, preferably in a hospital or physician practice setting preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including electronic check-in systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, guests, and multidisciplinary staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a calm, empathetic demeanor, particularly when working with individuals experiencing stress, illness, or neurological impairment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and hospital privacy standards.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Professional appearance with a customer-service-oriented and safety mindset.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, provide physical way-finding assistance when required, and work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if needed.
