PATIENT TRANSPORTER
Transportation staff will arrive at the unit with the transport vehicle (i.e. stretcher or wheelchair) specified at the time of request, stop at the Nursing station to retrieve chart and/or card, report to patient room, greet the patient by name, identify the patient by armband, introduce themselves to the parents, patient and nursing staff as appropriate. Assist the patient and/or nursing with the physical transfer of the patient onto the vehicle and transport patient to the appointment. Bodies of deceased patients will be transported to the Morgue by transport personnel.
High school diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities including: pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, etc. Must be able to read and write English.
Standard hours: 40
Work days: Monday - Friday
Shift start/end times: 10:00am - 6:30pm
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the AFSCME union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
