PCT - Patient Care Technician - Cardio-Hospitalist (HSP3) - PM
To assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN for the hospital. To obtain and record vitals, weight, inputs and outputs. To successfully complete an in-house PCT training program. To demonstrate an awareness of patient and personal safety.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patient with everyday needs, including bathing, restroom/bedpan assistance, etc.
- To assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN for the hospital
- Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations, weights, input, and outputs)
- Obtain EKGs
- Draw blood and perform finger sticks
- Obtain fluid samples or other specimens for testing
- Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments
- Notify nursing staff of any issues or concerns
- Keep patient rooms clean and sanitized
- Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies
- Assist patients with particular issues or needs
- Provide appropriate emotional support
- Committed to health care standards
- Demonstrate an awareness of patient and personal safety
- Empathetic and approachable
- Work as a part of the health care team
- Successful completion of PCT orientation
- CPR certified within 30 days of employment
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. Certified with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within thirty (30) days of date of employment required.
