The Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting two exceptional board-certified or board-eligible otolaryngologists with fellowship training in pediatric otolaryngology. This role offers opportunities for clinical excellence, academic advancement, and collaborative patient care. Applicants with interests in surgical education, mentorship, quality improvement, complex pediatric subspecialty clinical care, multidisciplinary complex care, or global outreach are encouraged.
This position involves joining a growing Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology with opportunities for clinical and academic growth.
Clinical Resources: Practice at UW Health American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, WI, which includes a pediatric intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit, organ transplant program, children's cancer center, and is ranked among the nation's best by U.S. News & World Report. Supported by nationally recognized speech-language pathologists and pediatric audiologists.
Faculty can practice a wide range of complex pediatric otolaryngology or develop niches in areas such as advanced airway surgery, pediatric otology/cochlear implantation, advanced sleep surgery, vascular anomalies, head and neck, sinus/skull base, speech/VPI/laryngology surgeries, and microtia reconstruction.
Engage in multidisciplinary clinics including Craniofacial Abnormalities Clinic, Pediatric Aerodigestive Clinics Team, Pediatric Tracheostomy Clinic, Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies Clinic, and an emerging complex sleep apnea clinic. Opportunities for NIH-funded clinical trials.
Position Details: Full or part-time, 80%-100% FTE. Requires onsite work at a designated campus location. Position of trust with access to vulnerable populations; requires caregiver check.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Service and Leadership: Active participation in regional and national professional associations. Academic duties depend on interests and expertise, including teaching medical students and residents.
- Clinical Activity (70%): Collaborate within and across fields like pediatric surgery, transplant, and pulmonology. Supported by three ambulatory Advanced Practice Providers. Includes on-call coverage and regional outreach.
- Academic Program (30%): Develop areas of academic pursuit such as surgical education, mentorship, quality improvement, or global outreach. Access to collaborators and research infrastructure.
- Education: Commitment to medical student, resident, and continuing medical education.
- Participate in administrative and committee work.
Department: School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery. Includes seven divisions and provides tertiary care. Offers residency and fellowship programs, with active grants and research collaborations.
Compensation: Negotiable, 12 Month.
Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Medical License by start date; Board eligibility/certification in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery; Completion of Pediatric Otolaryngology fellowship; Eligibility for enrollment as a billing provider and hospital privileges.
Preferred Qualifications: Command of core knowledge in pediatric otolaryngologic disorders. For higher ranks, meet criteria for promotion on CHS or CT Track.
Education: MD or DO, or equivalent required.
