Overview: Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship, initiated by Peking University in 2016, aims at drawing prospective young talents all over the world to conduct postdoctoral research and pursue academic excellence at Peking University. It offers young researchers opportunities to conduct research in diverse branches of learning such as natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, economy and management, information and engineering, and interdisciplines.

Funding: In the academic year of 2021, no more than 300 postdoctoral fellowships will be awarded. Each Fellowship is for 24 consecutive months, including annual pre-tax salary of 200,000 RMB, social insurances and housing subsidies (91,000 RMB), and 60,000 RMB subsidy for postdocs without postdoc flats. Additional subsidies may be offered by supervisors.

Promotion Opportunities: Postdocs with two years’ experience are eligible to apply for senior research positions within the postdoc track system at Peking University.

Eligibility: Open to highly qualified researchers of all nationalities, no more than 35 years old, PhD received no more than three years prior. Not eligible if holding tenure or tenure-track position. Selection based on education, academic excellence, research project quality, synergy with host institution, recommendations, and supervisor commitment.

Application: Applicants must identify a Peking University faculty member as supervisor and obtain written endorsement. Limited to 300 fellowships in 2021, with two rounds. PhD candidates receiving degree in 2021 eligible for Round One; before July 1, 2022 for Round Two.

Timeline:

• Round One: Applications January 15 to March 25, 2021; Preliminary decisions April 10, 2021; Final late April 2021.
• Round Two: Applications September 1 to October 15, 2021; Preliminary November 10, 2021; Final late November 2021.
