The professorship for “Governance in International Agribusiness” affiliated with the TUM School of Management and the TUM School of Life Sciences offers a Ph.D. position in Agricultural Economics (f/m/d) on the Freising-Weihenstephan Campus (start September 2026). Initial appointment will be 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L E13) (75%).
The professorship aims to shape and contribute to fostering a transition to a more sustainable, fairer, healthier, and efficient agro-food system.
Tasks
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Conduct research in agricultural economics.
- Publish high-quality articles in peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to the teaching activities of the professorship and supervise BSc/MSc student theses.
- Actively participate in the application and acquisition of third-party funding (e.g., EU Horizon, BMBF).
Qualifications
- An excellent Master’s level degree in economics, agricultural economics or agricultural sciences
- Fluency in written and spoken German
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Documented interest in crops, climate-resilient farming, adoption behavior, geospatial analysis
- Strong motivation to publish in leading international peer-reviewed journals
- Personal initiative, commitment, and an excellent team player

Payment will be based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L).
