Our pharmacy is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and self-motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our dedicated and passionate team and make a meaningful impact on patient well-being.
UW Veterinary Care Pharmacy is a full-service, licensed pharmacy that supports our veterinary patients through both inpatient and outpatient services. Our Pharmacy Technicians rotate through a variety of stations throughout the week, including sterile compounding of injections, non-sterile compounding of capsules and suspensions, outpatient data entry and prescription filling, stocking automated dispensing cabinets, and assisting customers with prescription pick up.

Anticipated schedule for this vacancy is Monday - Friday from 10:00am - 6:30pm with rotating weekends.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Receives, accurately measures, and labels medications based on prescription requests
- Serves as an initial point of contact for customers, provides information, and processes prescription transactions and insurance claims according to established policies and procedures
- Enters, audits, and amends prescription information and patient information in database and maintains patient records and medication inventory in accordance with regulatory policies and procedures
Department: School of Veterinary Medicine, UW Veterinary Care Hospital, Pharmacy Team
Compensation: The starting hourly rate for the position is $20.00 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications). Required Qualifications:
- Prior pharmacy work experience
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- High attention to detail
- Effective teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret prescription requests accurately
- Ability to prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products, including but not limited to the use and manipulation of a mortar and pestle and syringes and needles
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations
- Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician Registration upon hire
Physical Requirements: Constant standing and walking, constant handling, grasping, eye/hand/foot coordination, and repetitive motions, frequent carrying up to 50 pounds, frequent reaching, occasional lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds, occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma Required, Certified Pharmacy Technician Preferred
