About the Project
- The fellowship is part of the AIP project (Artificial Intelligence: Growth, Inequalities and Public Policies), funded by the Norwegian Research Council.
- The project examines the economic impacts of AI, including benefits like innovation and growth, and challenges like unemployment, market concentration, and income inequality.
- Focus on how public policies should balance these trade-offs.
- Led by Professor Fulvio Castellacci.
Research Themes
The PhD candidate will work on one or more of these:
- Factors affecting AI adoption in firms.
- Effects of AI adoption on firms’ innovation, productivity, and growth.
- Labor market impacts of AI.
- AI effects on market concentration and income inequalities.
Qualification Requirements
- Master’s degree (2 years or equivalent) in a relevant field such as economics of innovation or economics of ICT/AI.
- High academic quality (grade A or B).
- Documented interest/experience in economics of innovation or economics of ICT/AI.
- Advantageous skills: applied microeconometrics, causal inference, machine learning, data science, NLP, LLMs, programming in R or Python.
- Fluency in English (TOEFL or IELTS required for non-native speakers outside EU/EEA).
- Non-Norwegian speakers hired after 1 Aug 2025 must take Norwegian language courses (15 ECTS A2 level).
- Residency in or near Oslo is expected.
- Active participation in seminars and workshops.
