PhD Research Fellowship: Organising Impact (ORGIMP) Project

About the Project

  • The ORGIMP project studies how health research funding organisations can better manage and follow up research projects to maximize their societal and healthcare impact.
  • Partners include the Norwegian Cancer Society, Dam Foundation, and South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority.
  • The project analyses funding portfolios, project reports, and interviews to understand how funding, collaboration, and management influence outcomes.
  • It tracks selected initiatives over three years to understand “impact in the making.”
  • The goal is to provide practical recommendations for funders and policymakers to support research that delivers both academic results and societal benefits.
  • Led by Professor Magnus Gulbrandsen with Associate Professor Silje Tellmann co-leading.

Candidate Profile

  • Background in science and/or innovation studies, ideally with skills in both qualitative and quantitative empirical methods.
  • Master’s degree (2 years or equivalent) in relevant social sciences or humanities discipline.
  • High academic quality (grade A or B).
  • Experience with empirical studies related to science, innovation, or similar is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) and knowledge of a Scandinavian language (due to Norwegian data sources).
  • Residency in or near Oslo required.
  • Active participation in project activities, seminars, and workshops expected.

Qualification and Assessment

  • Candidates will be evaluated on:
  • Quality and relevance of project proposal
  • Academic grades and experience
  • Personal and communication skills, curiosity, and cooperation abilities
  • Potential to complete the project in the allotted timeframe
  • Interview will be part of the hiring process for shortlisted candidates.
