PhD in Clinical Monitoring Technology
Job Summary: As a PhD candidate, you will work in the Heart Center of the Catharina Hospital on the future of medical technology and patient care. The ADVANCE FORSEE project aims to use video technology to early detect complications in patients after open-heart surgery, enabling timely treatment.
Responsibilities: Collect clinical data to develop video-based algorithms. Find solutions for complex data management while ensuring clinical value and applicability. Develop and integrate algorithms for early detection of complications using video-based monitoring. Work on a prototype combining camera technology, data management, signal processing, and automatic alarming. Evaluate improvements based on clinical data. Prepare scientific publications and present results at national and international conferences.
Qualifications and Requirements: Completed master’s degree in fields such as Technical Medicine, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Technology, with demonstrated interest in artificial intelligence and data science in healthcare. Excellent written and oral communication skills in Dutch and English. Ability to work in a clinical environment and collaborate across disciplines, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and researchers. Be goal-oriented, driven, organized, collaborative, and responsible, with ambition to share research results at conferences.
What the Employer Offers: A fixed-term contract for 3.5 years at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of TU/e, working in Catharina Hospital. Full-time position (38 hours per week) with salary between €3,059 and €3,881 per month. Additional benefits include an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, annual vacation pay of 8%, professional development opportunities, partially paid parental leave, travel allowances, and contributions to the ABP pension scheme.
