The Philosophy PhD degree from Griffith University is awarded on the basis of a thesis or other substantial research output prepared independently under supervision that makes a significant and original contribution to knowledge in the relevant field of study as judged by independent experts of international standing.

Programme Structure
Each student will be assigned to two academic plans throughout their candidature:
- one plan designating the academic element (i.e. School, Department or Research Centre) in which the research is being conducted, and
- the other plan designating the discipline area (i.e. field of education) to which the research project is classified.
