We are searching for a highly motivated young researcher interested in carrying out their predoctoral training in a stimulating, international scientific environment.
PROJECT:
A central component of this study is the prohibitin (PHB) complex; while its depletion typically reduces lifespan in wild-type animals, it dramatically extends longevity under conditions of low IIS, a phenomenon conserved across species. Ultimately, by uncovering the mechanisms governing this interplay between mitochondria and the epigenome, the project seeks to identify therapeutic targets for age-associated disorders.
This project investigates the regulatory crosstalk between mitochondria and the insulin signalling pathway through the epigenetic regulation of gene expression to control cell homeostasis and longevity.
TRAINING AND OPPORTUNITIES:
- Techniques: Training includes C. elegans genetics, CRISPR/Cas9 editing, advanced microscopy, -omics integration (ChIP-seq, RNA-seq), and bioinformatics.
- International Stay: The project includes a 3-4 month stay abroad to perform cutting-edge studies on chromatin architecture.
REQUISITES:
- A degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related bioscience field.
- A Master’s degree obtained or nearing completion.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Previous experience in molecular biology, microscopy, or genetics is valued.
HOW TO APPLY:
Please send your CV, qualification records (Degree and Master), a brief motivation letter, and contact information for two references in one single pdf to martsan@upo.es before 15th of September.
