CRC/SFB 1739 | Division of Oral Microbiology and Immunology, University Hospital RWTH Aachen
As part of our recently announced call for 11 PhD positions within CRC/SFB 1739, we're highlighting a project investigating how Chronic Kidney Disease alters the oral environment — increased salivary pH, reduced salivary flow — and drives microbial dysbiosis linked to Chronic Periodontal Diseases, supervised by Prof. Dr. Georg Conrads.
You will apply (co-)cultivation of human and microbial cells alongside "omics" approaches, including single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, to investigate the crosstalk between host and microbe.
Looking for: MSc in Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology, Molecular Medicine, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Dentistry, Medicine, or related field. Experience in microbiology required; interest/experience in bioinformatics and immunology valued.
