Project Overview

• Study the molecular mechanisms of synapse degeneration induced by ß-amyloid (Aß) in Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
• Understand early synaptic pathology that precedes cognitive decline.
• Techniques include:
  • Neuronal cell culture
  • Proteomics
  • CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing
  • Super-resolution microscopy
  • Whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology
• Work in a diverse, interdisciplinary lab with access to core methodologies, models, equipment, and viral vectors from the start.
• Training provided on-site and through specialized courses.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate molecular processes leading to pathological synapse dysfunction.
• Analyze microscopy and electrophysiology data.
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals and report progress to funding sources.
• Contribute to teaching and supervision (~10% time).
• Present research at international conferences.

Candidate Profile

• Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biophysics with a specialization in neuroscience.
• Hands-on experience in molecular biology and cellular neuroscience.
• Experience with super-resolution microscopy and/or electrophysiology is a plus.
• Fluent in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
• Motivated, collaborative, and able to contribute to diverse and inclusive research environment.
