Project Overview
- Study the molecular mechanisms of synapse degeneration induced by ß-amyloid (Aß) in Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
- Understand early synaptic pathology that precedes cognitive decline.
- Techniques include:
- Neuronal cell culture
- Proteomics
- CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing
- Super-resolution microscopy
- Whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology
- Work in a diverse, interdisciplinary lab with access to core methodologies, models, equipment, and viral vectors from the start.
- Training provided on-site and through specialized courses.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate molecular processes leading to pathological synapse dysfunction.
- Analyze microscopy and electrophysiology data.
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and report progress to funding sources.
- Contribute to teaching and supervision (~10% time).
- Present research at international conferences.
Candidate Profile
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biophysics with a specialization in neuroscience.
- Hands-on experience in molecular biology and cellular neuroscience.
- Experience with super-resolution microscopy and/or electrophysiology is a plus.
- Fluent in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated, collaborative, and able to contribute to diverse and inclusive research environment.
