Offer Description
We are looking for an outstanding and highly motivated PhD candidate to join the RESTORE project at the Institut reConnect, Institut Pasteur in Paris.
The project will develop next-generation AAV gene therapy and precision genome editing for Usher syndrome, building on unique humanized mouse models and strong in vivo proof-of-concept data. The successful candidate will investigate how therapeutic efficacy, intervention timing and long-term safety determine functional rescue of the inner ear.
This PhD offers multidisciplinary training at the interface of gene therapy, CRISPR-based genome editing, sensory neuroscience, advanced imaging and in vivo functional phenotyping, within an internationally recognized research environment.
We particularly encourage applications from ambitious young scientists with an excellent academic record and a background in molecular/cell biology, neuroscience, genetics or biotechnology. Prior expertise in gene therapy or genome editing is an advantage, but scientific curiosity, rigor and the drive to tackle challenging biomedical questions matter most.
From patient mutation → to genetic correction → to restored sensory function.
