PhD position: Research Associate (m/f/d) in the field of operation of enterprise software in hybrid cloud data centers

The Wittges research group at the Chair of Business Information Systems (I17) at the Technical University of Munich is looking for research assistants for the “SAP University Competence Center” (SAP UCC) project who are pursuing a doctorate in the area of ​​enterprise software with a focus on hybrid cloud platform operations.

  • The UCC operates over 200 SAP systems, which are used by universities worldwide in research and teaching. The UCC cooperates with renowned partners, such as SAP SE and IBM.
  • Requirements
  • an above-average university degree in computer science, business informatics or related disciplines
  • high technical affinity and interest in familiarizing yourself with new technologies
  • basic programming skills (e.g. Python, Java, JS or C)
  • ideally, but not required, initial knowledge of the SAP environment and experience in Linux-based operating systems (SUSE Linux, RedHat, Ubuntu)
  • initiative, communication and teamwork skills for project work
  • very good knowledge of German and English (at least C1 level)

Tasks

  • planning, design and implementation of a hybrid cloud data center in the context of the UCC
  • project coordination and collaboration with our partners IBM and SAP
  • commissioning of cloud-based SAP solutions in the UCC data center to create Software as a Service offerings
  • implementation and evaluation of automation options in a hybrid cloud data center (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes or OpenStack implementations)
  • research in the field of hybrid cloud and cloud native approaches
