Firstly. – To commence the selection process for the recruitment of one Phd in research under an employment contract, in accordance with the criteria, requirements and selection process set out in the attached Annex.

Skills/Qualifications
The applicant must be capable of carrying out:
- The design, execution and analysis of experiments relating to inflammation, metabolism, oxidative stress and liver damage associated with ethanol and metabolic steatosis.
- The design and development of studies on alterations to the immune system associated with acute and chronic ethanol consumption.
- Development and analysis of in vitro cellular models of ethanol exposure, including cell cultures and the assessment of cellular and molecular responses.
- Statistical and bioinformatic analysis of results, as well as the critical interpretation and integration of the data obtained.
- Participation in the development of research projects, the preparation of scientific publications, conference presentations and the dissemination of results
Specific Requirements
- Hold Spanish nationality or that of any of the Member States of the European Union, or any nationality to which, by virtue of international treaties concluded by the European Union and ratified by Spain, the provisions on the free movement of workers apply. Foreign nationals of any nationality who are legally resident in Spain and who also hold a valid work permit may also apply under this call for applications.
- Be at least 18 years of age and not have reached the minimum retirement age. In the case of qualifications obtained abroad, an application for their recognition must be submitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.
- Persons with a degree of disability of 33 per cent or more may participate in this selection process on an equal footing with other applicants, provided that this circumstance is indicated in the application.
- Hold a PhD in Biology. The requirements and qualifications claimed by the applicant must be duly substantiated by providing the relevant documentation (employment history, contracts, qualifications, certificates, etc.) at the time of submitting the application.

Benefits

Eligibility criteria
Assessment of merits and skills based on CV (0–60 points)
I. – WORK EXPERIENCE and/or KNOWLEDGE in the field: (Maximum 45 points)
- Experience in the design, execution and analysis of experiments relating to inflammation, metabolism, oxidative stress and liver damage associated with ethanol and metabolic steatosis through participation in relevant projects and publications (15 points)
- Experience in the design, execution and analysis of experiments relating to damage to the immune system associated with acute and chronic ethanol consumption, through participation in projects and related publications (15 points)
- Experience in cell culture with in vitro exposure to ethanol (15 points). Additional training (15 points).
- Advanced user-level IT and statistical skills (bioinformatics analysis, word processing and Excel spreadsheets). (7.5 points)
- Advanced level of English for participation in scientific forums and the drafting of projects and publications. (7.5 points)
Candidates who hold a disability certificate indicating a disability of 33 per cent or more will have their final score increased by 2 points.
Selection process
The selection process will consist of two stages:
- Analysis and assessment of the CVs of all applications received, ranking them according to how well the CV matches the established profile and meets the requirements, and assessment of the merits claimed
- Competency-based interview: candidates with the highest scores in Phase 1 will be invited to attend, provided their score in that phase exceeds half plus one. The selection panel may decide to declare the vacancy unfilled
Additional comments
Once the application submission process has been completed, the following steps will be published on the IBSAL website:
- Publication of the provisional decision listing those admitted and those not admitted based on the minimum requirements, with a period of 5 calendar days for the submission of representations.
- Publication of the provisional decision on the assessment, with a period of 5 calendar days for the submission of representations.
- Publication of the final decision on the admission and exclusion of candidates, including the list of those admitted.
- Publication of the final decision on the scoring and the minutes of the allocation of posts.
Once the decision and the minutes of the allocation have been published and the selected candidate has been notified, they will have 7 working days to accept or decline the post for which they have been shortlisted. In the absence of a response, the post shall be deemed to have been declined, and the next candidate with the highest score in the relevant assessment shall be selected for the post.
In the event of an urgent need to fill the post, the candidate shall have a period of 2 working days to notify their acceptance or rejection of the post, after which the procedure set out in the previous paragraph shall apply.
