Offer Description

As a member of the Collaborative Research Center TrackAct (www.trackact.kit.edu) and the associated "Catalytic Surfaces and Photocatalysis" research group (https://www.ikft.kit.edu/english/1389.php), you will employ operando spectroscopy, machine learning, automation, and data science to understand and predict how heterogeneous catalysts dynamically change and evolve under reaction conditions.

Your Tasks

• Setting up a test rig for autonomous operando spectroscopy
• Preparing catalyst materials
• Developing process workflows and automated data analysis routines
• Applying Design of Experiments (DoE) and machine learning to automated experiment control
• Writing publications for scientific journals
• Presenting scientific results at specialist conferences
• Drafting research proposals
• Supervising student assistants and their theses
• Developing, setting up, and overseeing practical laboratory experiments

Your Profile

• Completed university degree (Master’s or *Diplom*) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
• Strong interest in catalysis and materials characterization
• Solid foundational knowledge in spectroscopy, catalysis, programming, or data science
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate constructively within a diverse, international, and interdisciplinary team
• Very good command of English; proficiency in German (spoken and written) is also desirable
