PhD Positions MQV & Max Planck IMPRS Doctoral Fellowships in Quantum Science and Technology
The International Max Planck Research School for Quantum Science and Technology (IMPRS-QST) and the Munich Quantum Valley (MQV) announce the open call for several fully funded PhD fellowships. We invite passionate and dedicated young professionals to join us for their PhD in quantum science and technology.
About IMPRS and MQV:
IMPRS is a collaboration between the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, and the Technical University of Munich, offering a comprehensive graduate program with basic and advanced courses. The program includes scientific activities and soft skills training, tailored to students' interests. It fosters an international and interdisciplinary environment through cooperation with other graduate programs.
The Munich Quantum Valley (https://www.munich-quantum-valley.de/) focuses on advancing quantum science and technologies in Bavaria, developing quantum computers and industrial applications. MQV doctoral fellows can choose research groups across Bavarian universities and access courses from quantum programs and partners.
Both MQV and IMPRS partner with the Munich Centre for Quantum Science and Technology (https://www.mcqst.de/), offering funding, support, conferences, and opportunities.
Fields of Research:
- Atomic physics and quantum optics
- Solid-state physics and material science
- Quantum information theory
- Quantum many-body systems
- Quantum-related fields of electrical engineering and computer science
Who Should Apply:
We welcome applications from candidates with a Master's degree (or equivalent) to be completed by the end of September 2026. Aspiring physicists, engineers, or computer scientists committed to advancing quantum science and technology are encouraged to apply. There are no tuition fees, and all PhD positions are fully funded for three years.
Diversity and Inclusion:
IMPRS and MQV are committed to recruiting exceptional students from diverse backgrounds and encourage applications from all genders and countries. Diversity drives innovation.
Apply to IMPRS, MQV, or both to join a community at the forefront of quantum science and technology. For more information and to apply, visit the application portal, as well as the IMPRS-QST (https://www.imprs-quantum.mpg.de/) and MQV (https://munich-quantum-valley.de/) websites.
