Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics (Łukasiewicz-IMiF) conducts the research and development in the field of advanced microelectronic and photonic technologies. It has unique technological laboratories and intellectual capital that enable it to undertake the scientific work and run the projects aimed at increasing the innovation of Polish enterprises, simultaneously creating a high-tech knowledge environment in the field of innovative materials’ production along with the technology and design of microelectronics and photonic devices, gallium nitride technology, LTCC technology, printed electronics and medical and environmental sensors. Łukasiewicz–IMiF runs numerous projects financed from domestic and foreign funds annually, the goals of which are to increase the innovation of the Polish economy.
Main responsibilities:
- Development of compositions and synthesis of transparent ceramic materials and glass-ceramic materials
- Characterization of synthesized materials with respect to their structural properties (XRD analysis) and microstructural properties (optical microscopy and SEM)
- Investigation of optical properties, including transmission, luminescence, scintillation, and laser performance of developed materials
- Interpretation of research results and preparation of technical and scientific reports
- Dissemination of research findings through scientific publications and conference presentations
- Establishing and maintaining collaboration with scientific and industrial partners
- Supervising the inventory and procurement of raw materials to ensure continuity of research and production processes
- Acquisition of grants for scientific research and research & development activities

Skills/Qualifications
- PhD degree with at least 2 years of experience in R&D sector, or master’s degree with at least 3 years of R&D experience, including participation in research projects (Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Optoelectronics, or a related field)
- At least 5 years of experience in the synthesis and/or characterization of materials for photonic applications (polycrystalline and/or single-crystal materials)
- Hands-on laboratory experience
- English language proficiency at a minimum B2/C1 level
- Creativity and innovative thinking
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Author or co-author of at least three publications published in scientific journals listed by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW), including at least one publication in a journal ranked at 140 or 200 points in the Polish evaluation system and/or included in the top 10% of SCOPUS-ranked journals
- Author or co-author of at least three presentations delivered at international scientific or industry conferences (oral presentation, lecture, invited lecture, or participation as a speaker in a discussion panel)
- Documented participation in at least two research and development projects financed through institutional funding, grants, commissioned projects, or external national/international sources, including at least one project involving implementation or commercialization of research results; experience as project leader in at least one of these projects is required
- Documented success in securing national or international funding for at least one scientific research project (e.g., NCN, NCBR, ABM, ESA, European Commission)
Specific Requirements
Preferred Qualifications - The Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics (Łukasiewicz-IMiF) will additionally consider the following qualifications:
- Author or co-author of at least one patent application
- Documented success in obtaining an international research fellowship (e.g., Fulbright Program)
- Documented involvement in organizing scientific or industry conferences
- Awards or distinctions for scientific and research achievements (e.g., institutional awards, industry awards, scholarships for young researchers, distinctions in scientific competitions)
- Membership in the governing bodies of national or international scientific organizations, committees, or expert panels
- Author or co-author of industry reports or analyses relevant to the Institute's research directions
