The PhD program in Sciences and Cultures of Musical Heritage is based on the fields of musicology, history of music, cinema and media, economics and management, and didactics applied to the enhancement and dissemination of heritage through libraries, archives, museums, theaters, and the most innovative performative expressions. Creativity plays a central role as a tool for social development and for amplifying the impact of studies on the past and on musical heritage. The culture of documentary and museum institutions, in its contemporary transformations, as well as every application of historical studies, cannot be separated from the performing arts and from educational, digital, and social dimensions. The PhD aims to analyze and interpret musical heritage—both tangible and intangible—within its original contexts of production and in its present forms of use, combining methodological rigor with the skills required for its full valorization.
