As a PhD researcher in sustainable finance, your research will be on the probabilistic distribution of valuation. You will investigate the probability distribution of the Net Present Value. The research will be theoretical, i.e., computing the theoretical probability density function and proceeding with a thorough Monte Carlo study, and empirical. On the latter, the application spans public and private equity and debt spaces in the context of the sustainability transformation. The applications will entail desk research and data collection.
In addition to your research activities, you will disseminate knowledge through publications in top academic journals, international conferences, and collaboration with an asset management company that finances the PhD.
You have a Master’s Degree in quantitative finance, economics, or econometrics. An academic background of strong mathematics and programming (e.g., physics, mathematics, engineering) is also sought after. You have a high GPA. Ideally, you have obtained cum laude at least once in your bachelor's and at least once in your Masters year(s). You want to conduct relevant research for the academic and business worlds, provide support to the school in the area of sustainability, work autonomously with a proactive attitude, have good writing skills, and are fluent in English. You want to work on our beautiful campuses in Ghent, Brussels or Leuven in combination with your home office.
Vlerick Business School is the hosting institute for this PhD journey, with David Veredas as your promoter. Ghent University will be your PhD-granting institute.
