PhD Studentship: Wordsworth Blackwell Mather PhD Studentship (UK Home Students only)
King’s College London is inviting applications for a PhD studentship for an outstanding doctoral candidate wishing to pursue a research project in the field of education in colonial and postcolonial Nigeria (1900-present). Education, in a broad sense, applies to children and adults from various regions of Nigeria. Successful candidates may focus on any area of education, including primary, secondary, university, vocational, or religious education within the country. This project is funded by the Wordsworth Blackwell Mather Bursary. The studentship will cover domestic fees across 3 years of study.
Applicants will need to produce a research proposal of c. 3,000 words. This should specify a research objective, the nature of the historiographical contribution to be made, and the methodology to be employed (including a discussion of the primary source base to be used).
The successful candidate will be asked to submit a full proposal here before 20 November 2025 5pm (UK time).
