Birmingham Newman University is pleased to announce it is sponsoring two new PhD studentships, expected to start in October 2026.
Please note that these studentships are available to home students only.
The studentships will be paid for three years at the level of UKRI studentships (£21,805 per year in 2026/27). The awards will also cover fees associated with registration for a full-time PhD.
All applicants must have either received an MPhil or a ‘Distinction’ grade for their Masters/MRes overall or a ‘Merit’ on their Masters/MRes degree with a distinction-grade classification for the Dissertation element.
Applications are welcome in any area of Birmingham Newman University’s research supervision, subject to suitable expertise and available capacity. Please consult our website for details here: Postgraduate Research - Birmingham Newman University.
Recommendation for the studentship award will be at the discretion of the interview panel and subject to successful acceptance for registration by both Birmingham Newman University and Liverpool Hope University, who are Birmingham Newman’s research degree awarding partner.
Interested applicants must follow the procedure outlined for enquiries and applications, available via the link here: PhD and MPhil enquiries and applications - Birmingham Newman University and complete an Expression of Interest form. Please stipulate ‘Studentship’ when asked on the form how your studies are to be funded.
Deadline for submission of an Expression of Interest form is 2400 on Sunday 31 May 2026.
Interviews are expected to be held on Monday 15 June 2026
