About the programme

The Philosophy of Mind and Language discipline at The Open University UK hosts papers by visiting speakers throughout the year, and an annual graduate conference at which students give papers on their work in progress.
Programme structure
The discipline has interests in questions such as:

- What is the relation between truth and meaning?
- What is the nature of the cognitive relation we bear to language?
- What role do our concepts play in philosophical inquiry?
- What is imagination and mental imagery?
- What is consciousness?
- Is our perception of the world direct or mediated?
- Is there a clear distinction between sensory states and cognitive states?
