West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery seek a General Surgeon with advanced training or significant experience in Endocrine Surgery (rank available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV.
Position Overview
This position is designed to support and further expand a high-volume, regional endocrine surgery practice. We are seeking a surgeon with formal endocrine surgery fellowship training or substantial clinical experience in thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal surgery.
Our endocrine surgery program receives referrals from across West Virginia and the surrounding region and maintains a large and growing referral base, supported by a strong and highly collaborative relationship with the Division of Endocrinology. The practice includes comprehensive management of benign and malignant thyroid disease, primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism, adrenal pathology, and complex reoperative endocrine cases.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Help expand a busy endocrine surgery practice including thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal surgery
- Participate in a collaborative, multidisciplinary endocrine care model
- Provide broad-spectrum general surgery care in support of the Division
- Participate in shared acute care surgery call, with weekend call averaging approximately one weekend per month
- Engage actively in the teaching of medical students and general surgery residents
- Contribute to academic initiatives, quality improvement, and potential research within endocrine and general surgery
The Division serves as a referral center for complex general surgery throughout the state and surrounding region.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency
- Endocrine Surgery fellowship training strongly preferred, or substantial documented experience in endocrine surgery
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Surgery
- Eligible for West Virginia medical licensure
All qualifications must be met at the time of appointment.
