Position Summary

The College of Allied Health Professions (CAHP) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), is seeking applicants for a full-time, 12-month faculty position in the Physician Assistant Education Program in Omaha, Nebraska. The position offers the opportunity for a portion of the FTE to be devoted to clinical practice.

The faculty member will provide teaching and clinical education support to students on both the Omaha and Kearney campuses. They will assist in PBL, clinical skills, and OSCE evaluations. Additionally, they will join in student experiences focused on clinical reasoning as a medical provider, assist in clinical site recruiting, support and evaluation, and assist in clinical phase student evaluation.

They will engage in research in an area of clinical/educational expertise.

This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work week that consists of a combination of both remote and on-campus work.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PA, NP, or Medical Program.
  • Master's degree in an appropriate field required.
  • Two or more years of clinical experience required.
  • Current license as a Clinician in the state of Nebraska or eligible for licensure.
  • Current active certification as a Clinician required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Ability to identify with, share in and have a commitment to the mission, philosophy and goals to the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
  • Ability to travel to locations in and outside of the Omaha metro area for clinical site recruitment.
  • Excellent human relations and effective communication skills. Qualities conducive to establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clinicians, co-workers in a small office setting, and community.

Supplemental Qualifications

The well qualified applicant will:

  • Hold a clinical or academic Doctoral degree,
  • Have work experience in a college or university setting,
  • Experience educating medical or PA students.
  • Relevant teaching experience.
  • Experience participating in an accreditation process
  • Experience in curriculum design, objective writing, and assessment.
  • Experience interacting with students.
  • Preferred knowledge of ARC-PA accreditation requirements for PA programs.
