Physician-Researcher in Pancreatic Surgery
Job Summary
Pancreatic surgery is complex with a high risk of complications. There has been a global increase in minimally invasive techniques like laparoscopy and robotic surgery, which are technically demanding but offer benefits such as faster recovery and fewer postoperative complications. Your research will strengthen evidence for the effectiveness and safety of these techniques.
Responsibilities
- Co-coordinate the European Registry on Minimally Invasive Pancreatic Surgery (E-MIPS), a quality registry collecting data from European centers on outcomes of minimally invasive pancreatic surgery.
- Conduct your own retrospective analyses and collaborative studies with participating centers.
- Coordinate the ongoing DIPLOMA-3 RCT, a randomized trial comparing laparoscopic and robot-assisted pancreatic tail resections within the E-MIPS consortium.
- Handle communication and alignment with participating centers, recruit new centers and funds, and guide inclusion and data collection.
- Analyze collected data and prepare scientific publications.
Qualifications and Requirements
- You have obtained a master's degree in Medicine.
- You preferably have demonstrable interest in clinical scientific research.
- You work accurately, are proactive, and have strong organizational skills.
- You are comfortable in an international and multidisciplinary work environment.
- You can set priorities well and organize your work efficiently.
What the Employer Offers
- A contract for 12 months, with the intention to extend to a total of 3 years, following the PhD Candidates Guideline.
- Salary scale 10: €3,598 to €5,669 gross per month for a full-time position, depending on education and experience, plus an 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Candidates with a bachelor's in Medicine may be scaled in OIO: €3,108 to €3,939 gross per month.
- 190.4 vacation hours per year for a full-time position, with the option to save hours.
- Pension build-up with BeFrank.
- 100% public transport reimbursement for commutes of 7 km or more one way, or €0.18 per km for personal transport up to 40 km one way.
- Bicycle allowance of €0.18 per km.
- Supervision by Prof. Dr. Marc Besselink and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Hilal, with opportunities to work abroad.
