Required Qualifications:
- Must be a Plumbing Apprentice or able to obtain a Plumber’s apprenticeship license within 120 days of hire
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and performing maintenance on plumbing fixtures and piping systems
- Experience performing maintenance on interior and exterior drain and supply piping
- Experience working under hazardous conditions (e.g., with bio-waste, in confined spaces, and at heights)
- Skilled in effectively and efficiently using Plumbers’ equipment, tools, and consumables
- Knowledge of Plumbing codes, standards, and safety protocols
- Experience and proficiency using a PC with MS software, web browsers, e-mail, and a hand-held electronic device/tablet
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education
- Experience working with SAP, AssetWorks (Aim)
Job Description:
The Plumber I is responsible for installation, maintenance, service and repairs of plumbing facilities.
Job Duties:
- Unstop clogged water closets, urinals, sinks, bathtubs, shower and floor drains, and sewer
- Repair water, gas and sewer lines
- Repair/replace laboratory faucets, traps and sinks
- Repair/replace hose bibs
- Complete work orders
- Works various schedules and required to be on call
- Required to carry a cell phone
- Operate university vehicle
- Complies with state and university policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Information to Applicants:
This position requires driving University vehicles. Must be willing to be on call on a rotating basis with other shop personnel.
