Police Officer
Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Police Officer is responsible for carrying out the functions of the EKU Police Department. These functions include protection of life and property, preservation of the peace and good order of the University community, and the furnishing of various services to enhance and support the operations of the University.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience: The rank of the officer will depend on previous experience if any.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Valid Driver's license.
- Citizen of the United States of America.
Must qualify for acceptance into the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council basic police training program or Already be certificated as a Police Officer under Kentucky Statues.
To apply for the position of Police Officer, you must be at least 20 years old at the time of application and turn 21 years old by the time you graduate from the Department of Criminal Justice Training Law Enforcement Basic Training Academy.
Licensure & Certifications
Valid Driver's license and satisfactory completion of the Department of Criminal Justice Training. Applicant must meet all KLEC hiring expectations for Kentucky Peace Officer Professional Standards certification. If not already a KLEC certified police officer applicant must attend basic law enforcement training at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training Academy in Richmond, KY.
