Field of Research and Scope:

  • Machine-learning based algorithms for information extraction from user-generated geo-data
  • Information fusion methods
  • Methodologies for multimodal relevance classification
  • Interaction with disaster managers to support decision-making in crisis management boards

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Conducting research
  • Writing academic publications
  • Attending national and international conferences
  • Supporting science communication activities
  • Collaborating with other research groups on an interdisciplinary basis
  • Helping to file applications for third-party funding
  • Complying with the institution’s academic standards and ethical guidelines

Your strengths and skills:

  • You must have completed a PhD degree (or an equivalent) in geoinformatics, computer science, mathematics, physics, computational neuroscience, or other relevant fields.
  • Excellent communication and social skills are required for working in an interdisciplinary and dynamic team as well as for conducting research independently.
  • Collaboration on publications with other members of the team is expected, aiming to publish in high-profile international journals and conferences.
  • Fluent in English
