Job Description Summary / TWC Summary
JOB SUMMARY: The Post-Baccalaureate Fellow in Biomedical Research is a full-time, mentored research training position designed for recent bachelor’s degree graduates pursuing advanced training in medicine, drug discovery, AI/ML drug discovery, public health, biomedical sciences, data science, or related health professions. The fellowship provides immersive experience in biomedical and health research, emphasizing hands-on research, professional development, and community-engaged science. The Fellow works closely with a multidisciplinary research team and receives individualized mentorship while contributing to research activities across the full project lifecycle, from study feasibility and regulatory preparation to data collection, analysis, and dissemination. The program integrates laboratory, clinical, and community-based research approaches to prepare fellows for competitive graduate or professional programs.

This is a Grant Funded position.
Essential Duties Summary
1. Research Training and Scholarly Activities
- Participate in structured research training curricula, seminars, and professional development workshops
- Obtain and maintain required research certifications (e.g., CITI, Human Subjects Protection, GCP)
- Conduct mentored biomedical research activities
- Support research projects across all phases, including feasibility assessment, study start-up, recruitment, data collection, data management, analysis, and dissemination
- Coordinate IRB submissions and amendments; maintain regulatory documentation and electronic research records
- Conduct literature searches and synthesize scientific evidence
- Prepare abstracts, posters, and oral presentations for local and national scientific conferences
- Assist with manuscript preparation and submission for peer-reviewed publications
- Contribute to grant and funding application development under mentor supervision
2. Teaching and Academic Support (≈10%)
- Support instructional activities in health-related academic programs through lectures, interactive learning sessions, and assessments
- Assist in coordinating students, interns, and volunteers involved in laboratory, clinical, or health services research activities

Hiring Range $40,613.11 - 51,781.72
Education Bachelor’s degree earned within the past 1–3 years in a relevant discipline (e.g., Biology, Biomedical Science, Public Health, Statistics, Computer science, physics, or related fields).

Work Experience
Required Qualifications:
- Prior research exposure through coursework, capstone projects, internships, research assistant roles, laboratory experience, or clinical research participation.
- Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks, and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grids, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with biomedical or clinical research environments
- Experience with IRB processes or clinical research coordination
- Basic statistical literacy and strong scientific writing skills
- Experience with qualitative research methods or implementation science
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, REDCap, and virtual collaboration tools
Working/Environmental Conditions
- Combination of laboratory, clinical, office, and community settings
- Occasional evening or weekend work required for research or outreach activities
- Local travel within the greater Houston area may be required (approximately 25%)
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet program and research needs
