Post Doc Fellow, College of Pharmacy
Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati, College of Pharmacy invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in synthetic organic chemistry for projects related to the discovery and development of small molecules that bind to and inactivate cancer targets. The fellow will conduct multi-step organic synthesis to generate focused sets of compounds, isolate the desired product, purify them using chromatographic methods and characterize them using 1H, 13C NMR, IR and HRMS. The fellow would ensure that all experiments are conducted following the policies and procedures of the University of Cincinnati.
Essential Functions
- Conduct experiments in organic and medicinal chemistry within the pre-determined research scope and methodology.
- Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
- Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
- Keep abreast of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
- Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
- May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor students.
- Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
- Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.

Required Education
Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree
Required Experience
- In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
- May require experience with specialized software programs.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- The position requires, prior to effective date of appointment, a Ph.D. in Chemistry
- In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art organic chemistry transformations, isolation, purification and characterization of small organic molecules.
