Post Doc in Foundations of Education
Your personal sphere of play: Your future place is in the research unit Foundations of Education (Head: Univ. Prof. Dr. Daniel Tröhler), which offers you the opportunity to research and teach in an internationally networked team and to develop your own research profile. The focus is on the study of educational thought from an international perspective, emerging in different historical, cultural and national contexts. The relationship between these systems of thought and the design of curricula for future loyal citizens and their intended role in implementing prevailing visions of the ideal social order is analyzed. For this position, a focus on gender-specific aspects of citizenship education in the education system (in its broadest sense) is expected. Due to its international focus, the research unit works in various networks with partners primarily in Scandinavia, Great Britain, Western Europe, Canada and the United States. The research unit Foundations of Education is part of the Department of Education and the Faculty of Philosophy and Education. The staff of the department value the international integration and cooperation with renowned research institutions in Europe, the United States and Australia, the opportunity to exchange ideas with internationally active visitors and to attend international conferences.
Your future tasks: Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means: You build up an independent research profile in the field of Foundations of Education. You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in this area. You publish internationally and give lectures. You develop and apply for projects and raise third-party funds. You prepare and complete a publication-ready habilitation. You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. You supervise your students in seminaries. You advise doctoral students of the research unit. You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance. You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality: Completed doctoral/PhD studies in the field (foundations of) education, history of education or philosophy of education. Outstanding dissertation. Research competence and initiative proven through international publications in peer-relevant media. Experience in research management and in leading project staff. Didactic skills. IT skills (Word/Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent knowledge of English (C1) / other foreign language (B1). Team player and high social/communicative skills.
