Job Duties

Joint research on dynamics of magnons in thin film heterostructures of chiral antiferromagnets (metallic and insulating) and heavy non-magnetic metals and alloys. This will involve collaborative research with the scientists of SLAC - Linear Accelerator Laboratory.

The Post Doctoral Associate will perform the following duties:

• Synthesis of thin film heterointerfaces of chiral antiferromagnets and heavy metal alloys using UHV sputtering.
• Conduct measurements of electronic transport (DC and RF) at cryogenic temperatures.
• Conduct studies of magnetization dynamics from ambient to cryogenic temperatures over a wide frequency range.
• Preparation of reports and manuscripts, and supervision of undergraduate student research
• Participate in collaborative research with national laboratories
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research

Requested Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION: The successful candidate must have a PhD in Physics or Materials Science from an accredited college or university.

Other Preferences for Consideration

Candidates with a minimum of four scientific publications in journals of repute may be given preference.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Research experience in the areas of measurements of electronic transport at low temperatures and high magnetic fields, measurements at microwave frequencies, and structure characterization with high-resolution x-ray diffraction is required.
