Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Science (Chemistry) - Dr. Brijith Thomas
The Materials NMR Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to appoint a Post-Doctoral Associate to conduct research in solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, materials synthesis, computational chemistry, and advanced structural characterization of functional materials. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects focused on understanding structure property relationships in molecular solids, porous materials, pharmaceuticals, organic materials, and energy-related materials.
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline, within less than 5 years post receiving their PhD. The candidate should have a strong research background in at least one of the following areas: solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, materials synthesis, computational chemistry, NMR crystallography, or advanced structural characterization of materials.
The candidate is expected to have demonstrated experience in conducting independent research, designing experiments, analyzing scientific data, and preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate should be capable of contributing to multidisciplinary research projects involving experimental spectroscopy, materials characterization, and computational modeling.
Prior experience with solid-state NMR spectroscopy, including magic-angle spinning experiments, multinuclear NMR, quadrupolar nuclei, or two-dimensional NMR methods, is highly desirable. Experience with computational methods such as density functional theory calculations, geometry optimization, and prediction of NMR parameters will be considered an advantage.
The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational ability, and the capacity to work effectively in a collaborative academic research environment. Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students, assisting with research proposals, and supporting laboratory safety and research compliance activities is preferred.
The candidate must be able to follow institutional research guidelines, maintain accurate research records, comply with laboratory safety policies, and uphold responsible conduct of research standards.
Applications will be accepted immediately. To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, transcript of degree/ copy of highest degree, research statement, and at least 2 letters of recommendation, all in PDF format.
Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. If you have any questions, please reach out to Brijith Thomas email: brijiththomas@nyu.edu
