Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Science (Mathematics) - Dr. Nader Masmoudi

The research team of Professor Nader Masmoudi (Fluid Dynamics Research Group), working in the area of fluid dynamics within the Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to contribute to and lead advanced research in the area of Experimental Fluid Dynamics.

The successful candidate will work on challenging problems by developing and conducting cutting-edge fluid mechanics experiments related to hydrodynamic instabilities, including but not limited to fluid-structure interactions, Rayleigh-Bénard convection, Rayleigh-Taylor instability, Richtmyer-Meshkov instability, Kelvin-Helmholtz instability, magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), boundary-layer separation, and Taylor-Couette flow. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with Professor Nader Masmoudi and Professor Jun Zhang (at NYU Shanghai and NYU). The position also offers the opportunity to engage actively with modeling and simulation research teams across NYUAD and other NYU global campuses.

The Post-Doctoral Associate will play an active role in mentoring students, preparing research proposals, and supporting academic initiatives. The position is ideal for a candidate with expertise in fluid mechanics and a strong interest in experimental research. 

Applicants must hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, and are still within their first 5 years since receiving their PhD. A strong publication record, experience in Experimental or Computational Fluid Dynamics, and involvement in student supervision and proposal development are essential. Working in the Experimental Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at NYU Abu Dhabi, candidates are expected to have a strong interest in experimental research and collaborate with applied mathematicians closely.
